Movie Title Dancer Description
A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum Lucienne Bridou

Helen Funai

(1966) Zero Mostel

Helen Funai, was also featured in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum". She was the Asian bellydancer. Though when Richard Lester filmed the sequence, no full shots dancing are used of Miss Funai. Lester was (and is) a technical marvel when it comes to film editing & technique (he more or less invented the so called MTV style), but I've long wondered if indeed it is Miss Funai doing the actual dancing. -- Paul B

For "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", it might be interesting to note that the character "Tintinabula" (a prostitute) gets turned down because her finger cymbals are too hard on the ear... -- Sherezzah

A Summer to Remember   The movie that I and several other dancers from the Salem, Ore.area were in was a made for TV movie named "A Summer to Remember" It was about a deaf boy and a orangutan that talked with sign language. We were in the circus scenes. There was a movie made in Oregon a few years ago that used local performers in it. I believe Gaylene of Gaylene's Boutique was in it, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the movie. I'm hoping if Gaylene sees this post she can provide the name and how much performance time was given to the performers. Also would be interested in hearing how this all came about, rehearsals, etc.
Abdullah's Harem
Action in Arabia Shushella Shakari (1944)
Adieu, Lebewohl and Goodbye   I haven't seen that movie so far - but there is a song called "Die Zuckerpuppe aus der Bauchtanztruppe" - which means something like sweetheart from the belly dancing group - belly dancing is supposed to be part of the movie -- Stephanie
Adventures of Sinbad , The   TV shows Hercules, Xena, and Sinbad often feature snippets of ethnic, pseudo-, and maybe even real ME dance with interesting/colorful costuming. The snippets, though short, add nice touches of ethnicity, dance and color to the shows.

"...looks like belly dancers on 'The Adventures of Sinbad,' which is broadcast on the cable channel TNT (not sure if it's only local to D.C.) [10 Mar 1997] at 9 p.m., ET..." --Zafirah Iman

Advocate, The - (British or British / French production) Amina "...about the misadventures of a lawyer in 15th century France...tires of the city and moves to a small town..Amina plays the "love interest", a gypsy...a very good, very funny movie with a tiny bit of dancing."
Age of Treason    [U.S., 1993] starring Bryan Brown, featuring belly dancing
Airwolf Belinda Bauer [U.S., 1984] starring Belinda Bauer as Gabrielle Ademaur, and featuring her belly dancing!!!
Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves    (1944) John Hall, Maria Montez, Turhan Bey. More Hollywood Costume drama, fabulous sets and costumes. Interesting group men's sword dance.
Ali Baba Goes To Town
All The Way Down Pat Barrington (1966) Pat Barrington dances topless
Another 9 1/2 Weeks   It seems that there was a short scene with a ME dancer in "She was in the background in a small, stuffy nightclub scene. The camera did focus on her a couple of times. This movie absolutely *stinks*, so I can't recommend it.
Arabian Adventure, An Suzanne Danielle Emma Samms[British, 1979] starring Emma Samms, featuring Suzanne Danielle bellydancing!!!Suzanne Danielle
Arabian Jewish Dance    (1903)
Arabian Nights Maria Montez Sabu, Jon Hall, Maria Montez does REALLY bad dances - a couple of very short group dances that aren't too bad. Hollywood costumes and wonderful sets.

The legal heir to the throne of the Caliph, played by Jon Hall, is attacked and almost murdered by his evil brother, played by Leif Erickson, who seizes the throne. A dancing girl (Maria Montez) finds the wounded heir and nurses him back to health. They fall in love, and he sets off on a series of adventures accompanied by a trusted friend (Sabu), an aging Aladdin in search of his mislaid lamp (John Qualen), and a bragging, shiftless Sinbad in his declining years (Shemp Howard).

Arabian Nights    (1974) Several Thousand and One Nights tales are framed by the story of slave-girl Pellegrini, who becomes "king'' of a great city. Dreamlike, exotic; the last and best of Pasolini's medieval trilogy.
Arabian Nights Mili Avital (2000) Mili Avatal, Alan Bates, James Frain, beautiful film, well acted, beautiful sets, great special effects. Some short dancing clips.
