Q: Where can I find dancers, dancing, and costumes in mainstream movies? A: Aziza Sa'id: Here's a fairly complete list...
Movie Title
Dancer
Description
Octopussy
Kristina Wayborn
starring Roger Moore as Bond, and Maud Adams as Octopussy featuring Kristina Wayborn belly dancing!
Omar Khayyam
(1957) Has one scene including some dancers in the background. One was supposed to be a dancer from India. While I can't recommend the movie storywise, some of the costumes the female characters wore was beautiful. Michael Rennie, Debra Paget, and Cornel Wilde were the actors.
On the Town
""Cooch dancers!" I recently saw the movie "On the Town" ( on my local PBS station) with Frank Sinatra, Ann Miller and Gene Kelly. At one point in the movie, the "guys" are running away from the cops in a classic car chase. They stop at a carnival to hide....they hide in a backstage dressing room and don the "cooch" or "gypsy" dancers' costumes. The men actually get out on stage- the funniest dancing I've seen in a long time ;-).Of course, the cops have caught on and a foot chase ensues. You can imagine what happens to the costumes." -Zemyna
Once Around
Sabah
(1991) nice job by a professional dancer! well executed, she looked very comfortable and relased and danced beautifully. Sabah dances as a surprise for the guest of honor at a party. -- Aziza Sa'id
Orient Express
Sameera or Sameeya
I was channel hopping the other day and found this cheesy 70's tv movie with John Saxon and Gene Barry called 'Orient Express'. There was a very short clip of a dancer in it. In the film she was billed as Sameera or Sameeya. -Ruth
Outlaw Of Gor
(1987) This movie makes "Waterworld" and "Showgirls" look like high cinema; it features a group of dancers together, doing something which resembles dancing, I guess. Never trust a movie by a director who goes by the nickname "Bud" in the credits. - Paul
