Party Girl	Sabah Shayan	Also, yesterday I caught the tail end of a movie on the Lifetime channel called "Party Girl." Part of the scenes I caught were of a dancer in a red costume. I didn't notice her doing a lot of movements but she was in a sort of dream/tripping sequence. She did have on a beautiful red costume though. -- Circe Yes, Sabah Shayan is a real NYC dancer, but I'm not sure if she is still dancing or not. While she has become a good dancer, at the beginning she was one of those who was hired on her fantastic looks. She is also in another movie - "Once Around" - where she's a gram dancer & speaks a bit of Lithuanian to the birthday boy. -- Morocco

Planet of the Albinos, The
Planet of the Apes		I don't think anybody has mentioned this here... In Tim Burton's new remake of Planet of the Apes, there is a brief scene where a female chimpanzee woman is entertaining her spouse by what appears to be belly dancing-- it's really rather funny, she starts out dancing with a veil, wearing flowing clothes and a low belt, somewhat elegant in an awkward way, then she tosses the veil aside and starts pounding her chest and hooting at her spouse. Prehistoric Women		(1967) In a movie that must be seen to be disbelieved, blond-haired women who are enslaved by dark-headed women perform some sort of weird ritualistic, er, dance. (One wonders how many takes the scene needed, because as the women are "dancing" more than one of them is having trouble keeping a straight face.) - Paul B

Princess Caraboo		has a costume-party scene. Some of the costumes were gorgeous Orientalist fantasies. Could be inspirational for modern costumes, perhaps?--Joyce

Princess Tam-Tam	Josephine Baker	Josephine Baker as a North African princess. She does her nightclub act, and is lovely to look at, but not terribly Oriental. Her chorus does some decent skirt and veil dancing. - Gwyn
