Belly Dance and Childbirth - Historical Connections

Lucy: Morocco wrote the first world-published article entitled "Belly Dance and Childbirth", relating how the movements were the same as those in a LaMaze "natural childbirth" course & not only safe to do, but an actual aid in strengthening the necessary muscles for future labor & childbirth.

It is on her website (http://www.tiac.net/users/morocco), under "Articles". It says there that it was first published in 1965 in the US & in Spanish in South & Central America, then published in "Medical Dimensions", a medical magazine for US doctors, in 1974 and in German, in Germany in 1974 or '75 in "Warum", a psychology magazine.

This was probably also the version from which a large section was quoted, almost word for word, in "Grandmother's Secrets", without giving Morocco any credit.
